Cancer Genetics Consults during COVID-19
We are continuing to support patients and families with cancer in these uncertain times. We have always been able to work remotely and have provided Telehealth consults since 2013.
- Telehealth for rural and regional patients is unchanged and conducted to their referrers rooms or their own home.
- For Metropolitan patients, patients can still be seen in our rooms, unless they are self-isolating.
- For Metropolitan patients who prefer, Telehealth to home can easily be organised at our usual fees, but without a Medicare rebate. (Note: unfortunately, the new COVID-19 numbers do not apply to the item numbers 132 and 133 for complex consults that we use.)
- Many public familial cancer clinics are operating using the new COVID-19 MBS item numbers and patients who live in major city and need to be bulk billed should contact their nearest service. See our links page.
